Features we looked at to choose our top egg cooker 2017

#1 How many eggs can be cooked at one time

We have looked at how many eggs can be cooked at a time but that’s not to say that more is better. For us we didn’t go for a bigger cooker as our no 1 choice because a lot of people aren’t looking to cook a dozen eggs at a time, if you are we’ve offered reviews for you but if you fall into the average person that might only cook 2 eggs at a time for one meal but might cook more occasionally then the majority of egg cookers in this list covers you.

#2 What other accessories are offered

We have looked at the things people are looking for in a good egg cooker because people want the accessories to not only be able to boil their eggs but also to be able to poach their eggs too. Even making small mini omelettes are a great extra to be able to do. Having extra options available makes it a more versatile piece of equipment but you don’t want to have to pay a lot of extra money for this.

#3 Cost

Obviously most people are watching the money they spend and you want as much as much as possible the money paid. An egg cooker isn’t a necessity but when time is limited in a busy household useful kitchen equipment can pay for itself and I think you will find an egg cooker falls into that category

Why don’t you check out our top choices for the Top 10 best egg cookers to buy in 2017 below and if you would like to read the full reviews of any of the egg cookers or check out the product page on Amazon.com we’ll leave the links below each of the products.

#3 Dash Deluxe Egg Cooker

Dash Deluxe Egg CookerThe Dash Deluxe Egg Cooker is for the person that likes to do a lot of eggs at once, although you can still do as little as 1 if you wish. You can do up to 12 eggs at a time in this 12 egg cooker and you can poach up to 7 eggs or make mini omelettes in 1 go and it has a omelette tray that is larger than the standard size egg cookers.

It works in exactly the same way as smaller egg cookers, you can have your eggs soft, medium or hard boiled but to get all of the eggs into this cooker they stack in a double decker way. On the base egg tray you can do up to 8 eggs then you place on the middle stacker ring which is see through plastic and rises to the height of the first layer of eggs.

There is a smaller tray which sits on the top of the middle stacker and you can load another 4 eggs on that then the normal see through dome lid goes onto that. There are 2 poached egg trays, 1 holds 4 eggs and 1 holds 3 eggs, they sit on the egg trays in place of the eggs, the 4 tray on the bottom part and the 3 tray on the upper deck.

There is a water measuring cup which gives you the right measure of water for the consistency of egg you want to cook. If you need to prepare a lot of eggs for a party or for a weeks worth of boiled eggs to store in the fridge this would be the perfect egg cooker for you.

#8 DBTech Automatic Shut-off Electric Egg Cooker

DBTech Automatic Shut-off Electric Egg Cooker The DBTech Automatic Shut-off Electric Egg Cooker can cook up to 7 eggs at one time. As with all the other 7 egg cookers we have reviewed you can cook your eggs soft, medium or hard boiled using the levels on the measuring cup as a guideline to the amount of water needed.

This unit has automatic shut off and an alarm when finished. There is a clear, domed lid with vent which allows good circulation of the steam for cooking and you can view the progress of cooking when using the omelette tray.

There is no poaching tray in this egg cooker but there is an omelette tray which you can use for an omelette with any add ins you want or you can just crack a couple of eggs in there and  it will give you a large poached egg with 2 yolks. Plug in the machine to heat up, when the ready light comes on you are ready to assemble your sandwich. Open up the lid and top half of the machine and place half the muffin in the bottom cut side up, add some cheese, grated or sliced and add ham or some kind of cooked meat on top of that.

Lower the top level down and crack you egg onto the plate, you can prick the yolk here, add your top half of the muffin cut side down on top of the egg and close the lid. Wait 5 minutes.

Slide out the base holding the egg, it moves sideways, it is non stick and should come out easily, this drops the cooked egg onto the cheese and ham base, you can then raise the lid and top ring to get your sandwich out. You may need to leave for a couple of minutes to cool down, enjoy!

#10 Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Boiler

Nordic Ware Microwave Egg BoilerThe Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Boiler is your egg cooker without electric cables. If you don’t want another electric kitchen gadget in your kitchen you might want to try this microwave version.

This microwave egg cooker is shaped like an egg with a flat base, the lid just pushes on and twists off and inside is the egg holder which is removable and it holds 4 eggs.

To boil your eggs you remove the tray and fill with water to the fill line marked inside the base, add your tray and then your eggs, no need to pierce, and put on the lid. Place the whole unit in the microwave and set the timer for cooking.

Because there are many different type of microwave ovens of different power levels, learning how long to cook for may take a couple of tries but the guideline given is soft-boiled 5-6 minutes, medium-boiled 6-7 minutes and hard-boiled 8-9 minutes.

Leave the eggs to stand in the microwave for a couple of minutes to finish cooking and then remove carefully, this boiler will be hot to handle, some people stand it on a plate to make it easier to remove. Take off the lid and remove the eggs, place in iced water to stop cooking before peeling. This is a great, cheap egg cooker to buy.
